The LIU Bookstore, a new two-story structure connected to the back of the campus theater, creates an animated northern boundary to the main campus plaza, the center of outdoor social life. The building is massed and detailed in a simple modernist way, providing a contemporary edge to this outdoor room. Clerestory windows are glazed with translucent channel glass around the perimeter giving the bookstore an inviting, airy appearance. The bookstore’s program and locale give the campus an important new focal point that naturally activates the surrounding area.
