IBM Solana is a mixed-use complex that includes three million square feet of office space, a 400-room hotel, retail space and recreational facilities for over 10,000 people. The master plan preserves the natural character and beauty of a rare 840-acre Southwestern “climax” prairie site. The Mitchell/Giurgola-led team developed design guidelines and an architectural language for the buildings, which will be developed over time. Thecompleted buildings, each accommodating six structures of 125,000 square feet each can be leased to one or to multiple tenants. They are carefully dispersed around the campus and are linked by landscape elements. A continuous stream organizes and connects the buildings and culminates in a Community Center at the terminus.
