P.S.156 / I.S.392 is an Annenberg School of the Arts and includes two art rooms, a dance studio, a music room and recording studio, and a 416-seat auditorium. The new 157,000 square foot school accommodates 1,200 students and also functions as a 24/7 community resource center. The lobby integrates a two-story art wall, designed by noted sculptor Ned Smyth, placed alongside the monumental stair that rises from the main level to the auditorium balcony, dance and music studios, and gymnasium. The illuminated art wall has become a community landmark, visible through large windows at the school’s entrance.
