Elementary and High School Campus
Andalusia, Spain
Mitchell/Giurgola developed a ten year redevelopment plan for this 20 acre campus. The phased construction strategy calls for complete utility replacement, the renovation of four existing buildings, and the replacement of all remaining structures. The master planning effort created a clear definition and separation of the high school, the elementary school and a preschool center. Taking full advantage of the mild climate, the new primary classroom/administration buildings for each school are organized around play courts and are connected to other campus buildings by covered walkways. Although separately identified, the schools are joined both physically and philosophically by a shared multipurpose room and music center.
