Founded in 1898, Weill Cornell Medicine has been located at the current Upper East Side campus since 1932. The new Feil Family Student Center is part of the ongoing evolution of the College’s facilities. Phase one of the student center included the refurbishment of eight existing classrooms and the gut renovation of outdated labs into additional classrooms with a break out lounge to achieve the College’s goals of growth, flexibility, physicianship instruction and student well-being.

The classrooms are divisible with multiple monitors in each room to support instruction in groups of different sizes. Custom sized flip-top tables create several possible furniture layouts from classic seminar to physcianship training with mock exam tables and data connections to portable medical equipment like ultrasounds that display on adjacent wall monitors. Media walls locate monitors and AV systems behind writable removable panels facilitating mixed media instruction and technology upgrades. The project is targeting LEED (CI) Gold certification as part of the College’s commitment to sustainability.
