The Innovation and Discovery Center is the second building designed by Mitchell Giurgola on Stony Brook University’s 246-acre Research and Development Park. The 68,000 square-foot Center will include flexible lab and office space designed to house start-up and incubator businesses benefiting from a tax-free statewide economic policy known as the START-UP NY Initiative.

The program mix will include a variety of general office space for start-up companies, research and development type lab space, and process engineering spaces. The building’s flexible design will accommodate tenants from a variety of fields with different spatial requirements and has been designed to attract new companies in the areas of biotechnology, information technology, electronics, and advanced materials and processing.
